Who is Bridget Walsh Moore?

Bridget Walsh Moore is the State Representative for Missouri’s 93rd District. After graduating from Ursuline Academy in St. Louis in 2006, Bridget went on to attend Bradley University’s Institute of International Studies in Peoria, IL, where she graduated in 2010 as a member of the International Studies Honor Society. During her time at Bradley University, Bridget also studied Arabic language and International Relations at the American University in Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt. She has also earned a Chancellor’s Certificate in International Trade from the World Trade Center through a joint program with the University of Missouri – St. Louis. In April of 2014 Bridget was diagnosed with stage 3 osteosarcoma, a bone cancer, which cost her a year of chemotherapy and a lifesaving amputation of her right leg. Now enjoying a full recovery, Bridget has become an active member of the adaptive athletic community in St. Louis.

Bridget resides in South St. Louis County with her husband Greg, an environmental engineer. They welcomed their first child in 2021. Together, Bridget and Greg are active volunteers and committee members with the St. Louis St. Patrick’s Day Parade, as well as active parishioners at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Healthcare

As a cancer survivor and an amputee, Bridget is all too familiar with the inadequacies of our current healthcare system. The path to achieving our goals in expanding access to healthcare begins with voting to expand Medicaid in August, but the work will not end there. Bridget will take her personal experiences to Jefferson City to advocate for all Missourians to have access to quality healthcare. Bridget believes that a woman’s healthcare decisions should be left between her and her doctor.

Education

In Missouri, there are school districts with four day school weeks and our teachers are paid well below the national average. Our education system is an investment in our children and our future, and we need to make it a priority. We must end the cuts to K-12 education and higher education that our Governor makes every year, and we need to start paying teachers more to attract people into the profession.

Labor

Strong unions lead to strong wages and a strong economy. Bridget will always support the right to collectively bargain in both the public and private sector, which leads to better wages, better benefits, and better conditions. Bridget would also like to see employers, particularly the trades, make a concerted effort to recruit more minorities, including women, people of color, and people with disabilities.

Environment

Climate changes presents daunting challenges for our community. The 93rd District rests on the banks of the Mississippi and the River Des Peres and is prone to severe flooding that will only get worse if left unchecked. Bridget will listen to scientists — not politicians — when it comes to crafting environmental policy to protect Missouri’s natural resources and public lands.

Opioid Epidemic

While the opioid epidemic continues to ravage our region, pharmaceutical companies turn bigger profits than ever. Bridget will stand up to Big Pharma, and will work to make sure that Missouri finally passes a Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.

Disability Rights

Individuals with disabilities deserve fair and equitable access to education, work, and recreation. As a person with a disability, Bridget understand how difficult it is to try to exist in a world that simply wasn’t built for people like her. COVID -19 has brought to light the ease with which so many jobs and educational opportunities can be adapted to meet individual needs. In Jeff City, Bridget will help lead the fight to help integrate people with disabilities into a modern classroom and workforce.
